Hawkers Market
As an economic stimulas insertion to the area fronting the train station, a commercial structure was planned to provide small F&B tenant spaces defining one edge of a semi-public courtyard, which provides a vibrant opportunities for outdoor dining and seasonal special events. Because it is situated in a center of a physically expansive and mountainous community with no public transportation, inexpensive "sleeping pads" are provided upstairs so patrons can enjoy the evening without worrying about drink driving home. Its massing mimics vernacular storage building types, and the local timber is profusely used in interior architecture to appeal to the sense of place of the locals and the tourists alike.
