Status:
completed 2003 This 380,000 sqm, 238m tall landmark has an iconic presence over Tokyo. Its prescribed bulk, with almost 5,500 sqm GBA of typical office floor, posed a challenge to the designers who used the opera diva as an anthropomorphic allegory to guide the design process. The basic column grid is a simple square, but the folded outer skin was carefully designed to minimize the multipath distortion of analog TV transmission due to interference between direct reception and delayed reception reflected off this building. The design process took many years and went through many iterations. It is now one of the best corporate addresses in town.
