Atami Vacation House
A retreat overlooking the sea for a comedian, where he can entertain his family and friends using his culinary skills. Its three cubes implying his three daughters are placed along the contour of the property sloping southeast to the sea 250m below. Their sculptural clarity and seemingly whimsical placement celebrate his successful career and the fun-loving personality. The west cube has master bedroom, living room and a garage. In the center are daughters' bedrooms, a professional grade kitchen and the dining room open to the view of the sky and Sagami Bay via an open terrace. The east cube is a party space with guest rooms. The podium houses an exercise room, a wet bath, apartments for two grandmothers, and a 25m lap pool with a deck. [design for a Japanese client]
